This month our web site turns 2 years old. Well, it's actually a little younger than that, but it was 2 years ago this month that my husband came to me with the idea (I will give him the credit for the idea, at least :)) for the site. He got the idea from the favors we created for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary, where we created small, round tins with a picture of them now on the outside, and a picture from when they met (in their teens) on the inside. Everyone loved them.

The site has gone through many iterations since we first launched. Some of those early designs (if you can call them that) were:

We passed another milestone this month also, having shipped our twenty thousandth mint tin wedding favor. When I think of us waiting for that first order to come in which came in on the last day of February 2006 - about a month or so after we "officially" launched - I cannot believe we've actually shipped over 20,000 of them. That first order was for 80 tins, and the design chosen was Wedding Bouquet 1. It's amazing to me that that many wedding guests have received one of our personalized mint tins. And so far in 2007 we have grown over 300% from 2006.

Some other interesting Assortmints.com personalized mint tin wedding favors facts (at least to me):

19% of our orders have come from California. New York is second with 12%
We have shipped to 31 of the 50 states, including Hawaii (I'm still waiting for Alaska)
We have also shipped our tins to other countries such as Canada, Austria, and Mexico
Our largest order was for 3,765 mint tins
Average order size is 177 personalized mint tins
Most popular personalized mint tin design is 'Own Design' at 30% of our orders (I never even thought it was anywhere near that high). A lot of the designs on our site actually started off as ideas the brides had.
Second most popular mint tin design is Flower Vase #1 with about 7% and in third place with about 6% is Monogram #1.

All in all, it's been an incredible experience. And I want to thank each one of our customers who has made http://www.assortmints.com/ this incredible. We are going to keep growing, and we look forward to continuing to being a small part of so many brides' big days!!

Making Your Personalized Mint Tin Wedding Favor Like your Wedding Invitation

Just like the email we received from Jen W. about creating a personalized mint tin to include her husband-to-be and her dogs, we received the following email from Melissa B. for her personalized mint tins:

I was wondering if we could send you a copy of our wedding invitations and you could use the same design on the front of the invitations for the mint tins? Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks!

After we emailed back that we would definitely try, she scanned her wedding invitation and sent the following email and scanned image to us:

Hi Jolie,

This is the same image that is on the front of our invitations and I think it would be awesome to have the same one on the tins. We would like this image with our names and the wedding date in dark brown ink over the top of it. Thanks a lot! Please let me know if this will work!

Including Pets On Your Personalized Mint Tin Wedding Favors

We received the following email from Jen W. for her personalized mint tins:

Hello!
I love the website and am looking forward to ordering the mint tins for my wedding. Our wedding is very traditional and we are looking to use the mints as a fun way of bringing our dogs into the wedding. We have a great picture of the dogs that we would love to use on the tin, but the dogs don't exactly pose in front of backdrops easily. The picture is in our living room. Would it be possible for you to just use the dogs in the tin design and leave out the living room mess? I am sending the photo along. If this will work, please let me know and I will order the mints at the website and resend the picture along with the purchase information. Thanks in advance for letting us know if you can make this work. We appreciate your help in making the favors the hit of the wedding!

Hi Jolie,

The dog picture looks great. Jay and I are excited that this can be the one part of the wedding where we get to have fun planning! I ordered the tins and included the date of the wedding and our names. We would like to have something more than just "our wedding" on the tins. Do you have any ideas? We are not exactly good at this stuff and I figured maybe you had an idea. We each had a dog (mine the little one and his the big one) before we met and now we all live happily together.
